Baked Apple French Toast

 This was our breakfast today.... saw it at Wendy's house last night and straight away gave me an idea for breakfast menu since I had all the ingredients ready. I love French Toast and this definitely very delicious.... remind me of my very good friend Audrey who is now in KL - we used to go to club restaurant with other friends for breakfast but this is no longer in the menu since they changed the operator many years ago. I hope she will try this one day... it is so easy!

Recipe below has been slightly modified, retyped & doubled from the original's
Serves 6 persons / 8" x 12" casserole
INGREDIENTS:
12 slices Sandwich Bread
5 small Fuji Apples - peel & slice - 3 for filling & 2 for topping
100g Soft Brown Sugar*
1 tsp Cinnamon Powder*
(* mixed) 
4 large Eggs
1/4 tsp Salt
250ml Milk
1 tsp Vanilla Essence
 

METHOD:
1. Beat eggs, salt,milk and vanilla essence.
2. Dip (do not soak) 6 slices of bread in the egg mixture (both sides) and arrange them to cover base of greased casserole.
3. Toss 1/2 of sugar mixture into apple filling & spread on top of arranged bread.
4. Dip the other 6 pieces of bread in the egg mixture and arrange them on top the apples.
5. Pour balance of egg mixture over the bread. Tilt dish to distribute well.
6. Arrange balance of apples on top of bread.

7. Sprinkle balance of cinnamon sugar over the apples.
8. Bake in a p
reheated oven 180(fan)/200C for 20-30 minutes until puffy golden brown.

BAHASA MALAYSIA VERSION
 Bagi peminat French Toast, ni resepi mudah untuk menyediakan sarapan ringan. Ni fevret Along sekeluarga & Liana pun amat suka. Resepi ni menghasilkan roti yg rangup dgn perisa epal yg lazat. Kalau suka boleh tambahkan lagi gula taburan sebab manis nya sederhana sahaja.

Hidangan 6 orang / 8" x 12" casserole
BAHAN2:
12 keping Roti Sandwich
5 bj kecil Epal Fuji - kopek & hiris - 3bj utk filling & 2 bj utk topping
100g Soft Brown Sugar*
1 st Serbuk kayu manis*
(* campur) 
4 bj Telur
1/4 st Garam
250ml Susu
1st Vanilla Essence
 
CARA2:
1. Pukul telur, garam, susu & VE sehingga sebati.
2. Celup 6 keping roti (jgn sampai kembang) ke dlm bancuhan telur di kedua2 belah & susun di dlm kaserol tahan panas yg telah di minyakkan.
3. Gaulkan 1/2 campuran gula dgn epal filling & tabur ke atas kepingan roti tadi.
4. Celup baki 6 keping roti ke dlm bancuhan telur & susun atas taburan epal.
5. Tuangkan rata ;lebihan bancuhan telur.
6. Susun kepingan epal & tabur 1/2 lebihan campuran gula.
7. Bakar 180(fan)/200C selama 20-30 minit sehingga keperangan.
